It's time to think pink around April's upcoming lunation!

This month's full moon, nicknamed the pink moon, rises on April 17 and reaches peak illumination at 4:48 p.m. PT.

April's a big month for the moon, as this lunation comes shortly after it passed by the sun in a rare total solar eclipse visible from the United States on April 8. While there's much activity happening astronomically, there's just as much significance astrologically too.

"Full moons are the most intense and emotional periods in a lunar cycle," says PEOPLE's resident astrologer Kyle Thomas, who notes this pink moon arrives at 4 degrees of Scorpio. "Striking a balance between what we give and receive will be extremely important," he adds.

The pink moon is square with Pluto (the planetary ruler of Scorpio), which may trigger "power struggles" or "intense emotions." Thomas says this "isn't because we are being punished by the universe," but rather it's an opportunity to "aid us in eliminating bad habits in favor of positive ones. "

Pluto’s link to Neptune (the planet of spirituality) and unity with Mars (the co-ruler of this lunation) further "amplifies" the aforementioned energy, which Thomas says can "fire up our desires, motivations and hunger for passion, expression and sensuality."

Jupiter will be uniting with Uranus at this time, too. Thomas says this will demonstrate the need to "embrace a forward and progressive mindset" in order to elevate. He predicts this will help to "heal ourselves, enrich our relationships and make our realities a better place."

Aries (March 21-April 19)

Prepare for advanced awareness, Aries! Thomas predicts this full moon will bring awareness to how you "share, give and receive" within your important relationships.

If you and your partner are on "steady ground," Thomas says this full moon could make your union stronger — but in contrast, this could also "bring friction" if you're on different pages. It could also "draw attention" to your intimacy and sexual life, with "more passion arriving or a scandal coming to face."

Thomas predicts those in significant relationships "may find their partner suddenly brings in more income" for the pair. He says you could also hear news of a "large settlement, payout, scholarship or inheritance" — but warns of it being "an auspicious period to assess, stocks and investments."

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

The time could be now, Taurus! Thomas says "one of the most important periods in your life" regarding significant partnerships has arrived with this lunation.

This, of course, depends on where you stand in your relationship, but Thomas predicts "major decisions" like moving in together, getting engaged or even getting married could be made. He notes that "business partnerships" could also be affected too!

While "commitments and unions are quite possible now," Thomas warns of what can happen if your relationship is on rocky ground. "This full moon could bring an intense and dramatic separation, pushing you to shatter apart," he says.

There's a bright side! If this happens, Thomas assures "you’re being directed to someone else and this is fate’s way of saying so." If you're single, he predicts you're "favored now to meet someone with long-term potential."

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Your daily routine may be taking a turn, Gemini. This full moon could signal a "major ending or turning point" in your employment, predicts Thomas.

"Some may be pushed out of a job or choose to leave one now," he adds. If this is the case, he predicts "another employer could be right around the corner" — just make sure you're searching for the perfect one!

Thomas says other Geminis may find that they are "putting the finishing touches on a milestone project" that takes a "great deal of attention." He notes the moon could also affect your "physical health, fitness, diet and exercise" which may prompt a "revelation to make a major change."

Lastly, Thomas predicts that "a situation around a pet could also pop up." He adds, "This pet would be a soulmate connection."

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

The cosmos are cooking up a whirlwind of passion for you, Cancer! Thomas says you're likely to feel "an extra dose of sugar and spice" in comparison to all the zodiac signs around this full moon.

With your passion sector being activated, Thomas says "you may have a significant turning point around romance, true love, hobbies, fertility or creativity." He adds, "You’ll be ignited to pursue your heart’s desires and not settle for less."

For those who are single, Thomas says this lunation could "very well bring a soulmate connection to you" and those who are in committed relationships "may find that the spark is hot once again."

Lastly, this lunation rules children. So Thomas says Cancers "could witness a milestone moment for one of their own" or "learn of a major news like a pregnancy."

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Emotions may run high around this full moon, Leo. This lunation will "rock your domestic life, home and family," predicts Thomas.

A "significant ending" — such as moving, renovating or deciding to entirely redecorate — may occur at this time, while others "may reach a milestone" around real estate matters instead.

Your family sector will also be activated at this time, which Thomas says can potentially cause an "emotional experience" within your kindred which will likely make you "quite nostalgic" and "reflective" on your heritage and past. If someone needs help, he suggests you step up.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Let your ideas run wild, Virgo! Thomas says April's full moon will "activate" your sector of communications and intellect.

"Many Virgos will be debuting a significant writing, speaking or advertising initiative at this time, while others will be focused on locking down a major contractual endeavor," he says. "It is clear you have some important thoughts you need to broadcast and the world will be listening."

This lunation could also ignite a desire to travel, perhaps visiting a nearby destination or link up with a sibling. "Use the energy of this time to step out of your comfort zone," says Thomas.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

An "important moment" around your financial life has arrived, Libra. "This full moon will rock your income, wealth and resources," predicts Thomas.

"Many Libras will find that they are actually about to bring in more money due to a raise, side hustle or new job offer," he says. "If a job or income stream ends at this time, use this energy to get on the hunt for something even better."

Fortunately, the stars are on your side! "You should soon be able to be moving in the direction of even more wealth," Thomas predicts.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

Step into the spotlight, Scorpio! As the full moon falls in your zodiac sign, Thomas says you'll get a glimpse of the "new journey" you are being sent upon.

"Significant endings, breakthroughs or breakdowns could all happen as you watch the previous chapter of your life fade away right before your eyes," says Thomas. "Now is a time to release the past and what isn’t serving you," he adds in regards to relationships.

"Step upon the path to pursue what truly makes you happy," he continues. "Destiny will be speaking directly to you at this time, so know what you want, listen to the universe and create your future."

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

The cosmos are telling you to "lie low and trust your stillness," Sagittarius. Thomas says this full moon could feel "quite difficult" for you as you are "forced to face your past, your baggage, your anxieties and your fears."

Thomas says this lunation "will draw attention to how you have been leading your mental and physical health" — so if something seems amiss, he suggests you take proper precautions to address it.

Some will also find that "secrets or scandals will emerge" at this time, some he says are "karmic in nature." The best thing to do now, according to Thomas, is "take a step back, meditate and listen to your intuition."

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

A turning point around your friendships and social circle could be around the corner, Capricorn. As the full moon energizes this area of your life, Thomas says that "you could attend a major event, network up a storm or find that a friend steps in to aid you reach a heartfelt personal goal."

Another way this could affect you is by having a friend or acquaintance "exit your life," Thomas adds. However, just as it happens, he puts forth that someone new could enter it. "You’ll soon realize that this person holds the keys to bringing you a whole new vision of happiness," he says.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 18)

The light is shining on you, Aquarius! Thomas says the approaching full moon "will bring fire to your career, ambitions and public recognition." He adds, "A significant award, promotion, new job offer or publicity could appear and lift your name into the sky."

If a job ends near this time, however, Thomas assures that you’re being "redirected to a new position elsewhere" or a "fresh career path altogether." If you’ve felt stifled in your career for a while, he says "it may be time to consider a whole new path instead."

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20)

Spread your wings and get ready for takeoff, Pisces! As the full moon dances sweetly with your zodiac sign, Thomas predicts you’ll "now have the impetus and courage to shake it up and step out of your comfort zone."

"Many could reach a newfound milestone around a long-distance project or travel situation," he says. "Others could be pushed to go back to school — or if already in school, have a major moment with their studies or a professor."

Lastly, Thomas predicts "a big change is sure to happen" if you’re tied to the media, publishing or international business.
