Do you need something to munch on? Or something to serve as an appetizer for tea time with friends? Well, this Asian-style stuffed jalapeno pepper just perfect for it.

So tasty, easy to make, and definitely will be on your new favorite list.

Different from western or Mediterranean stuffed pepper, this Asian-style stuffed peppers is using the deep-frying method. The preparation is very straightforward. You just need to make a filling mixture then stuff it into green peppers (jalapeno or banana green peppers).

Today I use minced meat mix with minced shrimp. You can use a combination of chicken and shrimp or beef with chicken. But of course, you can mix or substitute with tofu for the vegetarian version.

Asian Style Stuffed Pepper Recipe

Make 20-25 small-size jalapenos

Ingredients:

๐ŸŒถmedium-size green chili or jalapeno 20-25 pcs, seeded but do not remove the stems.


Filling
๐ŸŒถ 200 gr ground meat

๐ŸŒถ100 gr shrimp, finely minced (*)
๐ŸŒถ4 cloves of garlic
๐ŸŒถ2 scallions, chopped
๐ŸŒถยฝ medium carrot (optional), finely chopped
๐ŸŒถ1 tsp black (or white) pepper powder
๐ŸŒถ1 tsp salt or to taste
๐ŸŒถpinch of sugar
๐ŸŒถ1 tbsp tapioca or cornstarch
๐ŸŒถ ยฝtbsp sesame oil

๐ŸŒถ2 tsp oyster sauce

(*) You can use minced chicken


For coating:
๐ŸŒถ1
ยฝcup ap flour

๐ŸŒถยฝ cup tapioca or cornstarch flour

๐ŸŒถยฝ tsp baking powder

๐ŸŒถpinch of salt and pepper to taste

๐ŸŒถ1 cup ice-cold water, slowly add

๐ŸŒถcooking oil for deep frying

How to make:

Filling:

In a medium bowl, mix well all filling ingredients. If you want to taste, just pan-fry a pinch of the dough mixture. Adjust the taste to your liking, add salt, pepper powder, or chicken/meat bullion if needed.

1.Take seeded green peppers and spoon the filling mixture enough to fill the peppers. Do until all peppers and filling finish.

2. Heat enough cooking oil for deep fry. In a medium bowl, sift the flour, tapioca/ cornstarch flour, and baking powder. Add pepper powder and salt to taste (about 1 tsp), mix well. Slowly add iced-cold water until you get a thick but pour-able mixture. I use about 1 cup.

3. Check the oil if it's hot enough, if you dip a bamboo chopstick it will bubbling a lot. Lower the heat to medium. Dip the stuffed peppers into the coating mixture, hold the pepper stem. dip fry into the hot oil. Do not too crowd otherwise the heat will too cold to fry. And fry until golden brown.

4. Remove from the oil and layover kitchen paper towel to remove excess oil.

Enjoy warm with dipping sauce.

Sauce for serving (optional)
๐ŸŒถ2 tbsp soy sauce
๐ŸŒถ1 tbsp vinegar
๐ŸŒถ2 tbsp chili flake

๐ŸŒถpinch of sugar

Mix all ingredients for the sauce in a small bowl. Mix well and serve as a dipping sauce.

Or you just dip in any spicy chili sauce or ketchup.

Yang ini pas banget deh untuk teman ngemil sore hari. Saya suka banget dengan taste udangnya yang kerasa. Tapi kalau gak ada stok udang bisa juga kok diganti daging ayam atau kombinasi ayam dan udang. Untuk versi vegetarian bisa banget diisi tahu juga ya.

Hasil jadi 20-25 medium-size jalapenos

Bahan-bahan:
๐ŸŒถcabe jalapeno hijau ukuran sedang 20-25 buah, buang bijinya tapi jangan potong batangnya.

Isian:
๐ŸŒถ200 gr daging sapi giling

๐ŸŒถ100 gr udang kupas, cincang halus(*)
๐ŸŒถ4 bawang putih, cincang halus
๐ŸŒถ2 daun bawang, cincang halus
๐ŸŒถยฝ buah wortel ukuran sedang (opsional), cincang halus
๐ŸŒถ1 sdt merica bubuk
๐ŸŒถ1 sdt garam atau sesuai selera
๐ŸŒถsejumput gula
๐ŸŒถ1 sdm tepung tapioka (atau sagu)
๐ŸŒถ1 sdm minyak wijen

๐ŸŒถ2 sdt saus tiram

(*)bisa diganti dengan daging ayam giling


bahan lapisan tepung :
๐ŸŒถ1
ยฝgelas terigu

๐ŸŒถยฝ gelas tepung tapioka atau bisa pakai pati jagung

๐ŸŒถยฝ sdt baking powder

๐ŸŒถ1 sdt garam atau seuai selera

๐ŸŒถ1 gelas air es, tambahkan sedikit demi sedikit

๐ŸŒถminyak untuk menggoreng secukupnya


Cara membuat:

Isian:

Campur semua bahan untuk isian. Cek rasa dengan cara menggoreng sedikit adonan. Tambahkan garam, gula atau bubuk merica sesuai selera. Bisa juga tambahkan micin atau penyedap rasa jika suka.

1.Ambil cabe hijau yang sudah dibersihkan bijinya. Isi dengan adonan isian secukupnya,jangan terlalu penuh. Lakukan sampai semua adonan habis.

2. Panaskan minyak goreng secukupnya untuk dip-fry.

sem*ntara itu campur semua bahan kering untuk lapisan, masukkan air es pelan-pelan sampai cukup kekentalannya, jangan sampai terlalu encer. Saya pakai 1 gelas kurag sedikit.

3. Kecilkan api ke panas sedang. Ambil cabe yang sudah diisi lalu celupkan ke adonan coating/ pencelup dan goreng dengan api sedang sampai merah keemasan.

4. Tiriskan dan sajikan hangat segera dengan saus celupan.

Sauce celupan (opsional)
๐ŸŒถ2 sdm kecap asin
๐ŸŒถ1 sdm cuka
๐ŸŒถ2 sdm bubuk cabe seuai selera

๐ŸŒถsedikit gula

Campur semua bahan diatas hingga rata. Siap disajikan sebagai saus celupan.

Atau bisa juga pakai saus cabe biasa ya.
