Cinnamon Brown Sugar Coffee Syrup Recipe (1)

When I think of the cooler months, I think of rich, bold colors, crisp air, beautiful foliage and warm spices. While I’m usually an iced coffee kind of gal, I look forward to being able to sip my hot coffee on a cool autumn morning. Now I don’t know about you, but I love to drink flavors that sort of go with the season, especially when it comes to fall and winter. Cinnamon is one of the spices that comes to mind when I think of flavors that pair wonderfully with this time a year and it’s truly one of my favorites.

There’s something so warm and inviting when it comes to cinnamon that I enjoy adding it to so many baked goods, as well as my coffee. This cinnamon brown sugar coffee syrup is an easy way to add that flavor in. What I love about this recipe is it’s so easy to make and it’s absolutely delicious. I also love that I know the exact ingredients that went into creating it and don’t have to worry about anything funky when it comes to store-bought flavorings. Try making this homemade coffee syrup to keep on hand all season long to enjoy the essence of fall in your morning cup of coffee.

NOTES

  • If you prefer a thicker syrup, simmer for a longer period of time until the liquid has reduced by half.
  • I like to make my own homemade brown sugar because it makes this syrup a little richer, but store-bought is fine too.
  • You could use pumpkin pie spice in place or in addition to the cinnamon in this recipe.
  • Try adding this syrup on top of pancakes and waffles as an alternative to maple syrup.

Technically you don’t have to store the syrup in the refrigerator, but I prefer to just to get more longevity out of it. I’d say you can leave it at room temp for 1-2 weeks or in the refrigerator for up to a month.
