I realize not everyone loves to plan in advance like I do.
It’s two days until Thanksgiving, which probably means many of you still have absolutely no clue what you’ll be making for the holiday feast. I’ve known for weeks that I would be making a pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. We are traveling and will spend the day with the family of one of our daughters-in-law, where we just need to make a simple contribution. I’m with you on liking to plan (and shop) well ahead of time, and am also glad that we don’t have to do Thanksgiving dinner at home… 🙂 Hope you have a great Thanksgiving!

I’ve been making a crustless pumpkin pie for years – I always “doctor” the spices (i.e. add far more than the recipe says) because I really like a spicy, fragrant dessert.
Thanks for this! I have to try the cauliflower alfredo at some point…
I’m making an apple crumble, subbing in some almond flour to the crumble, along with a bit of Chinese Five Spice – stole the idea from an email that suggested adding it to pumpkin for more of a kick (it works just as well with apples too!)Reply

Alas, being the only one with dietary needs in my giant-ass family of 30+, I’ll be bringing my own dairy free mashed potatoes and vegetables, and if I feel like it, gluten free gravy. Not sure if I feel like it.
They better have cranberry sauce.I WOULD be making your crustless pumpkin pie which has been a link in which I constantly click to lust over. BUT, I don’t have the ingredients nor the $$$. Good thing Larabar made a pumpkin pie flavor that my mom got me as a gift. I don’t care what angst says, moms really do care.

I just made a gluten-free and regular batch of both your skinny snickerdoodles and inside-out pumpkin stuffed chocolate cookies to bring to my grandparents’ house for Thanksgiving!
Unfortunately I forgot to add the nut butter to the gluten free inside out cookies, so those are a little funky, but the rest are pretty good!

I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. I cooked your Chocolate Fudge Pie for dessert on Turkey Day and my family was bewildered when I told them what was in it: tofu. It other words, it was so delicious they couldn’t even tell it was healthy. My sister thought it was some practical joke. Oh boy.
I was wondering if you have ever tried cooking with soy-flour. I recently experimented with it with one of your pancakes recipes and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a healthier alternative to regular flour that is also really high in fiber. Also, it only has 80 calories per .25 cup. It added a nutty, savory flavor to the pancakes that tasted like peanut butter almost! The pancakes tasted so rich that it did not taste like a healthy vegan recipe! I was eating the raw-batter, no lie. It was so tasty. I highly recommend experimenting with it for pancakes and other goods! 🙂

Fairly new to follow your blog, but I just love it. I love to cook but I’ve never been much of a baker or dessert maker (cookie/brownies from a box here and there). But recently I’ve been experimenting making many things from scratch using healthier ingredients and have been enjoying it quite a bit. I was wondering what you use or recommend for a cocoa powder.. (I’ve heard some can be significantly bitter). Thanks for the great recipes, the Thanksgiving ones look amazing, looking forward to trying the whole lot of em. I also can’t wait to plan Christmas Eve dinner and dessert this year 😉

Hi Katie,
Thanks so much for gathering all of these holiday recipes in one place. Now that you’ve done this, could you go a step further and have a recipe category for recipes like these — recipes for a crowd/potluck/holiday/whatever. There are several I know of where you’ve mentioned bringing the item to a party and getting raves. But, inevitably, I can’t find those when I need one for a potluck.

I read and then re-read the post. Clearly, I must have missed the offensive part. I don’t see anywhere in your post anything remotely offensive. People are offended way too easily. I thought your comment was funny (sounded like something I would say) and is likely true for some. At least it’s true for many of my friends, they never plan meals. I had to go to the store for a can of milk on Thanksgiving eve and it was a nightmare so clearly the comment applies. Shake it off! No apology needed. Love your blog and your sunny personality. Anyone who has followed you for anytime should be able to recognize your humor and know that you meant no harm. Shame on them for even making you feel you had to retract or apologize!

Yeah what about this was supposed to be offensive? That she said “good luck” if you’re going shopping for groceries two days before thanksgiving? Really? I needed that luck when I tried to walk into Whole Foods a few days before. That parking lot was the opposite of namaste. So THANK YOU KATIE, I did need the luck! 🙂
